Raw Dog Food in Cape Town

Prey-model raw food for dogs, made from South African farm meat and delivered frozen to your door across the Cape Peninsula. Real meals — no grain, no fillers, no synthetic vitamin packs.

Why Cape Town dogs are switching to raw

Dogs are built to eat meat, organ and bone — not extruded starch. Most premium kibble on Cape Town shelves runs 40–60% carbohydrate, cooked at high temperature and propped up with synthetic vitamins. A raw food diet for dogs puts the bowl back where canine biology expects it: real protein, real fat, real moisture, and the micronutrients already locked inside fresh meat and organ.

What's in a Bundu dog mix

Every Bundu mix follows the prey-model ratio — roughly 80% muscle meat, 10% bone and 10% organ, half of that liver. Proteins rotate across chicken, beef and venison so dogs get a varied amino-acid profile naturally, without synthetic supplements bolted on. Sourced from free-range South African farms, minced fresh, snap-frozen, and portioned into practical 500g packs.

  • • Free-range South African meat — chicken, beef, venison
  • • Muscle, organ and ground bone in prey-model ratio
  • • No grains, starches, fillers or synthetic vitamin premix
  • • 500g portion packs — easy to size for any breed
  • • Frozen on the day it's made, delivered frozen

Delivery across Cape Town

We deliver raw dog food across Cape Town and the wider Western Cape — the City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard (Sea Point, Camps Bay, Hout Bay), Southern Suburbs (Claremont, Newlands, Constantia, Tokai), Northern Suburbs (Bellville, Durbanville, Brackenfell) and the False Bay side down to Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and Simon's Town. Orders ship in our weekly Friday cycle so meat travels supplier → freezer → your door, still solid.

How much raw food does my dog need?

The simple rule: an adult dog eats about 16g of raw mix per kilogram of bodyweight per day. Puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs eat closer to 22g/kg. A 20kg adult dog lands at around 320g a day — that's roughly 20 of our 500g Bundu packs a month. Use the feeding calculator to size it to your dog.

Transitioning from kibble

Most dogs switch fast. For sensitive dogs, do a clean swap: fast for 12–24 hours, then start on a single protein (chicken or beef) for the first week before rotating. For older or fussier dogs, blend raw into the kibble over 7–10 days, growing the ratio daily. Loose stools in the first few days are normal as the gut recalibrates — they firm up quickly.

What owners notice within a month

  • • Smaller, firmer, less smelly stools
  • • Cleaner teeth and fresher breath
  • • Glossier coats and less shedding on the couch
  • • Leaner body condition without restrictive feeding
  • • Calmer energy — no carb spikes after meals
  • • Less scratching and fewer hot spots in allergy-prone dogs

Raw dog food, South Africa-made

Most premium raw dog food in South Africa leans on imported lamb or chicken. Bundu is the opposite: South African meat, prepared locally, delivered locally. Shorter cold-chain, smaller carbon footprint, and proteins your dog would actually have hunted on this continent. We started in Cape Town and grew from word-of-mouth between dog owners who could see the difference in the bowl, in the coat, and on the walk.
